A DAD shot dead his seven-year-old daughter then turned the gun on himself in a mall car park – after a day of shopping with the girl and her mother, cops said.
The man, who was identified as Carlos Garcia, 36, killed his little girl in the family’s car which was parked next to a shopping centre, police in Capitola, California, said.
The girl’s aunt identified the tragic little girl as Yaxtel Tapia, who was one month away from her eighth birthday, KSBW reported.
Yaxtel and her parents had been shopping together at the mall before the shooting, Police Chief Terry McManus said.
Police received a 911 call from Yaxtel’s mother saying that her husband was attempting to kill himself on Sunday afternoon.
Officers found the father and daughter inside the family’s car which was parked at Capitola mall, California, with gunshot wounds.
Paramedics attempted to revive the pair but both died at the scene.
Yaxtel’s aunt Maria Tapia has created a GoFundMe page to pay for the little girl’s funeral costs.
She said that the seven-year-old’s death was “sudden and unexpected” on the page.
“We need help raising money for our beloved daughter, granddaughter, niece and cousin Yaxtel G. Tapia,” she wrote.
“Money will be used for her funeral arrangements to put our beautiful angel to rest. We hope to raise the money in time to put her to rest and be able to say our last words.
“The loss of our beloved little girl was very sudden and unexpected.”
